If I build a travel website how do I get my site to communicate with a hotel reservation system to book rooms?

I have a niche online travel site idea and am trying to find information on how a customer can book rooms on my site with a particular hotel? Is there software that links the two? Also, if anyone has any idea as to costs it would be appreciated? I will be offering other services as well.

Individual hotels won’t have their own reservation system, so there won’t be anything to link to. It’s far too expensive for one property to build its own system. If it is part of a chain, they will use the chain’s system. Otherwise, it will have to contract with a third-party system or keep records manually.

Major websites link to the chain’s reservation system, a third-party system such as Pegasus, or with a GDS system such as Sabre or Apollo. In some situations, there is no direct link. The website automatically faxes the hotel and the hotel manually enters the reservation into their records. (Strange, but true.)

Have you spoken with the hotel? They will tell you which system they use. Then, you’ll have to contact whoever operates the system to determine contract terms, fees, and the protocol for communicating with the system.

if bookmarking sites (like reddit/digg) are non-niche specific, won’t they hurt my site ranking and why?

lets say i create a site about dogs and use bookmark to digg or reddit which is not niche specific. i understand that getting quality back links is critical. would digg and reddit be considered quality backlinks even though they are not niche specific? could they hurt my ranking because they are niche specific?

I don’t take so.
As long as you have constant updates to your blog you will get backlinks from them. Don’t be spammy or anything.

How do I find info about the number of hits a web site gets each day?

I’m interested in looking at how many unique visitors Site A vs. Site B gets. Most of the sights I will want to look at are not the big names, but smaller, more niche associated…(Offroad enthusiast). I remember seeing a site a few years ago that had this type of information (I believe they even had categories that listed the top sites in that category) but can’t seem to find it throught searching now.
OK – Let me clarify a little. I don’t need the counter / stats for my web site. What I woul dlike to do is get the stats for different offroad web sites without having to ask / wade through each site.

the closest thing is alexa.com but for smaller sites the results are too extrapolated.

siteadvisor has some kind of stats also.

I would like to build up a new social site that has a function like MySpace.
As you can see that MySpace has open niche to all.

But here I do not want to have a competition with MySpace.I would like to build up a social networking that has a specific niche like golf or football,etc.

I was search at google but i still need more information.

Can you suggest me what`s niche of social network that people may love to join but it`s not really available today??

I have idea to build up a social site for music as people love to talk about it but i can see that a lot of social networking for music available out there

I do not want to build up a social site like forum or personal blog.But the social site will let the members to upload their pictures,videos,and they can add another member as their friends(as i told you above it has a function like MySpace).

if you have to ask how to create a website on yahoo answers, then i hate to tell you, but you arent going to be able to do it – it’s extremely complex, and there arent any software packages you can buy that make it “easy” if you dont understand web design
